Morag Turnbull

Kootenay Field Operations Coordinator
Morag (she/her) studied Antarctic and Environmental Science at the University of Tasmania. After graduating, she  spent two years undertaking bush regeneration work at home in northern New South Wales before moving to New Zealand to work on various conservation projects including on remote islands, with a focus on invasives species. Since moving to Canada in 2023, Morag has worked with a variety of government and non profit organizations on aquatic and terrestrial invasives species. She joined NTBC in July 2024 and appreciates getting to protect key areas for wildlife and explore the beautiful landscapes of the Kootenays every day. In her spare time, Morag enjoys exploring the Kootenays and beyond by hiking, mountain biking, running and skiing. She also loves cooking, travel, and admiring native plants.

We gratefully acknowledge that our Vancouver office is located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, who have been stewarding this land since time immemorial. Our work and conservation areas encompass many lands throughout the province, and we humbly acknowledge the First Nations communities who live on and steward these lands.
